On June 28th, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo, Bosnia and as a result the first World war began. Christians all over the world are opposed to war. In Springfield war is no stranger. This city and area has given many young men and women to war. The number of war dead from southwest Missouri are numerous. 100 years has only added to that number. Is there any hope to draw on today?
Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. War is not the only problem that Jesus can get us through. All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Even when life seems to be going wrong, Christ’s Kingdom will continue.
Just as soldiers continue to fight in wars after the war to end all wars, Christians continue to grow in their faith as life’s obstacles confront everyone. Being a believer does not separate Christ’s followers from evil and its effects. Continue walking the correct path for you. Circumstances do not cancel out the power of God for the Christian.
Often depression, failure and dissatisfaction with life make quitting look good. Even Christians have times when situations are more than we can handle. That is when we are told to lean on our Lord and savior. Others may not believe that times can get to even the most dedicated believer, but they do.
When war breaks out in your world, turn to the one that can end the war in your life and your world. Focus on being the servant Christ has called you to be. Strive to bring love to everyone you meet in all situations. Serving others gives purpose to any life. Be the Doulos God called you to be.
