Today on The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance radio program, we talked about the Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act, a bill introduced by Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) to repeal the gun ban on land controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Gun Owners of America has issued an alert and asks supporters to “Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to cosponsor H.R. 1865, the Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act.”
Regular readers both here and at my War on Guns blog know I don’t ask anyone to do anything I don’t do myself. That’s one of the reasons why gun owners who won’t even lift a finger or send an email continue to baffle and irritate the hell out of me. Especially when the effort required of us is so small.
It took me two minutes to contact my representative,Steven C. LaTourette, and I’m please to share his response with you:
You will be happy to know that I have cosponsored H.R. 1865 and hope that it will come before the House for a vote.
So here’s the question: Will you do this as well? No excuses, right now, you’re not doing anything else anyway, it will only take a minute…? And don’t use your rep being anti-gun as an excuse–if they are, why wouldn’t you want to be a part of sending them thousands of messages of defiance?
Find your representative here, then go to their web page and fill out their contact form. You do know who he or she is, right?
