In a memo received this morning, it was announced that the video site set up for military personnel to share videos and slideshows has officially closed up shop. Troop Tube was popular for all branches of the military and their friends and families.
Thank you for using TroopTube to stay connected with your family, friends, and fellow service members over the years.
At the time of the TroopTube launch in November 2008, many service members were restricted from using online video hosting services such as YouTube. Today those restrictions no longer exist. As a result, the utilization of TroopTube drastically decreased. On Sunday, July 31, 2011 at midnight Eastern Daylight Time, the TroopTube site will be closing.
Please continue to share your videos through video hosting service websites such as YouTube. For military units and installation community and family service providers seeking guidance on posting videos online for general release, please contact your unit or installation public affairs office for more information. For more information about TroopTube’s closing, read the FAQs.
