By Julie Denice Griffin
The movie about two Irish blokes fighting the good cause first opened up on St. Patrick’s Day in Boston. Two Irish brothers listen to the priest speak and then take penance at the altar. “I will take vengeance upon my enemies,” quotes the priest from the bible. But according to the,1611 King James: Deuteronomy 32:41 reads, “If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take holde on Iudgement, I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.” The priest, telling the story of the murder of Kitty, where no one so much as called the police – Warns against the indifference of good men.
The rule of thumb, as the Irish brothers new female co-worker asks, “Did you know that in the early 1900’s that it was legal for men to beat their wives as long as they used a stick no wider than their thumbs.” When the boys don’t work at the meat shop, they hang out at the local pub. The pub owner tells his proverbs wrong. “People in glass houses sink ships.” The others introduce McKoy to the Russian gangsters – “If you won’t go, we will make you go.” One day, the Russian gang shows up at the brothers home uninvited. One brother practices self-defense and saves the other brother’s life by killing the large mafia men with a porcelain toilet.
Agent Paul Smieker of the F.B.I. Organized Crime Force, and a group of investigators stand around. They try to figure who done what about the Russian mob connection. The very nature of the crime makes it a federal matter. Smieker plugs classical musical into his ears to conduct the investigation in peace. He is able to discern from which direction the alley murdered men came. He assigns two men to each building and another man to look for some 50-caliber bullet cases, and some leaks in the building. As the investigation progresses, the videography contains a multi-faceted movement as well as throughout the duration of the film that engages the viewer interestingly.
“This was no gangland assassination.” States Smieker. The crime too sloppy, he wants to exercise his theory that the dripping must come from the fifth instead of the fourth floor. Also, he notes that a phonecall to the police coming from an Irish neighborhood is out of character. The general consensus of the murderers comes across as that these now reign as the angels of the neighborhood. No one liked the Russian mafia, and this gives the murderers the courage they need to turn themselves in.
