We’ve all heard various reasons and excuses for cancellations. But really, it’s very difficult to sing when your vocal chords are bruised and swollen from coughing. Taylor Swift released the following statement:
It breaks my heart to miss out on this weekend’s shows with my friends in Charlotte and Atlanta,” Swift said in a statement about the cancellation of her North Carolina appearance July 8 and events in Georgia on July 9 and 10. I would never cancel if I thought I was physically able to perform these shows. I am so sorry to the fans, but I look forward to seeing you when we come back through your towns, which we will do.
Cancelling shows is very difficult for any artist to pull off, however it’s better to see a favorite artist in top form at a postponed show than to see them feeling sick and not give it their all.
She is scheduled to resume her tour on 7/14. This seems like a big push. The coughing may be over, but the swelling takes time to go down.
Her shows next month at Staples Center in Los Angeles on 8/23/11 and 8/24/11 are still on so far. Her opening act will be Needtobreathe.
Of course we all know her for her breakup songs. Are guys still going to date her knowing that she might write a song about the relationship? Jake Gyllenhall should have thought about this before he dumped her and broke her heart.
