Each of us can support the homeless and formerly homeless men and women of SHARE/WHEEL, which has been effectively sheltering those in need since 1990.
“SHARE is Seattle Housing and Resource Effort (co-ed).
WHEEL is the Women’s Housing, Equality and Enhancement League (women-only).
We are partner organizations of homeless and formerly homeless men and women.
All of our efforts are self-managed; run by the homeless members themselves.
We are King County’s largest shelter network, with 15 indoor shelters and 2 Tent Cities.
In addition to shelters and Tent Cities, we facilitate a Storage Locker Program and a Housing-For-Work Program called SHARE2.
We are not a social service organization; we are a self-help group”

SATURDAY, July 9th , 5–8 PM SHARE is sponsoring a WIENER ROAST FOR SHELTER at the north end of Victor Steinbrueck Park (2001 Western Ave, North of Pike Place Market). How often does eating a hot dog make a statement? You’ll have a chance to do just that this Saturday night, for the best of all possible reasons, during this year’s Wiener and Salmon Roasts at Steinbrueck Park. Consuming a SHARE hot dog will demonstrate the conviction that the security provided by giving homeless people shelter at night is a greater good than adding a couple of security guards to downtown parks. PLEASE COME OUT AND SUPPORT US IN THIS ENDEAVOR BY PURCHASING WIENERS INSTEAD OF SALMON. Contact SHARE at (206) 448-7889 for more information. (SHARE/WHEEL website.)
This is an easy and fun way to support the homeless in their efforts to provide shelter and security for their members and for the city.
I hope to see you there.
