New picnic tables, benches and trash receptacles arrived in July and are on the Second Street side of the 2nd St. Market near the middle entrance. These amenities were made possible through the Five Rivers MetroParks and the Recycling Incentive Grant Program of the Montgomery County Solid Waste District. The four picnic tables, three benches and two trash receptacles are made from 100% recycled content material and were made in the USA.
The benefits of using recycled products include conserving natural resources, less items in the landfills, and less use of fossil fuel to manufacture new items.
A Greener You has many, many ways to help you lessen your impact on the planet, and they are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the Market.
Adding to the new look at the market are 16-foot banners on the outdoor market, promoting our Ohio farm-fresh corn, melons, tomatoes and other local produce.
The outdoor market now also has face painters, caricature artists and musicians to liven things up even more on Saturdays. Indoors, Tom Fortener will be at the piano from 10 to 1 pm this Saturday, September 3, 2011.
