“American Idol” stars Scotty McCreery and Pia Toscano appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday, August 12, 2011. The two new “American Idol” stars, who had performed in New York City’s Central Park, did a backstage interview with Lara Spencer, and they talked about their tour.
I saw the “American Idols Live!”concert in July and it was an energetic, hyperactive event, with a constant barrage of music. The women, in particular, had numerous costume changes and appeared on the stage multiple times. In fact, I wondered why the women got to wear cute and glamorous sequined dresses, while the men wore more casual gear. The costume changes may have been one of the reasons that the women found the concert more tiring then the men.
When asked what the tour bus was like after the concerts, Toscano revealed that they had two separate buses, one for the men and one for the women. Toscano said that after the concert the girls were all tired, so they all went the bed and slept. McCreery noted that it was a different story on the men’s bus, where they stayed up late and had fun.
When asked about future goals, Pia Toscano, revealed that someday she would l ike to be an actress, but she plans to stick with music for now.
Scotty McCreery, who was the big winner of the season, was asked when his voice changed. McCreery revealed that his voice dropped at a normal age, between 13-14, and that he never went through the awkward cracking stage.
McCreery was the featured entertainer at the “American Idols Live!” concert. He did not appear until the second act, but sang a block of songs. Runner-up Lauren Alaina appeared in spots throughout the evening and actually seemed to have more stage time, but that could have been an illusion.
The American Idols Live summer tour is now on the east coast. The concerts will run through September 10, 2011, according to the American Idol website.
