“If David Plouffe were working for me, I would fire him, then he could experience firsthand the pain of unemployment,” was one of the statements released by Mitt Romney, at this time the top GOP presidential contender, Friday, after jobs reports of 9.2% were released.
The full quote from Obama’s top campaign adviser, which riled Romney, was:
“The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers. People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on how do I feel about my own situation: Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?”
Romney made a blanket accusation of Obama and his administration as one having a “cavalier attitude about the economy”, adding in the statement that “the White house has turned the audacity of hope into the audacity of indifference.”
On Friday, Romney also released a video and petition to let President Obama know that unemployment rates matter. Following is the transcript from Romney’s newest hard-hitting video:
