On Sunday, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) had sharp words for President Obama in an interview with Breitbart.tv’s Larry O’Connor on The Ben Shapiro Show last Sunday:
The President’s concern is about getting reelected. The President’s concern is that he is an intransigent, liberal, progressive socialist who is also Marxist because of the class warfare rhetoric that he espouses. And I think that when you heard him on Friday and the more he comes out and talks, the more truly out of touch and incompetent he seems.
Last Friday, President Obama made the false claim that 80% of Americans wanted their taxes increased, despite several polls showing the exact opposite results.
West wondered if the President understood that 47% of wage-earning American households don’t even pay taxes.
A post at The Right Scoop notes:
This statistic alone points out one of two things – Obama’s incompetence or his lies. I’ll go with lies, because that’s what it is really. Obama can’t be honest and expect to get his radical transformational agenda completed with the American people clapping for him along the way.
According to a chard at the Tax Foundation’s web site, the top one percent of wage earners paid over 38 percent of all income taxes in 2008, while only earning 20 percent of all adjusted gross income (AGI).
In contrast, the bottom 50 percent of wage earners paid only 2.7 percent of all income taxes while receiving 12.75 percent of all AGI for the year.
Nevertheless, Obama and the Democrats keep screaming about “shared sacrifice,” the latest euphemism for raising taxes on the rich.
West addressed this in his “Weekly wrap-up,” writing:
And all we hear from the President is talk about “shared sacrifice,” “tax the rich,” and “increase revenues by tax hikes.” It was just December 2010 that President Obama and the Democrats extended the Bush era tax rates for two years…now less than a year later they are FLIP-FLOPPING!
West also called Obama’s “80 percent” claim a “blatant lie” and warned of what was taking shape in the country:
I believe we are headed towards the ultimate ideological clash in America. There is a widening chasm which has developed between those who believe in principled fiscal policies and those desiring the socialist bureaucratic nanny-state. An unfortunate aspect to this is the complicity of a mainstream media which does not report facts, but rather ideological bias. This clash will determine the future and legacy of our Constitutional Republic.
West also took on the false claim made by Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee that Congress was deliberately making the debate complicated because of the President’s race:
Attacking this President is not attacking his skin color. It’s attacking his failures. He has a vision for this country that is anathema to the vision of the founding fathers, in our belief in individual responsibility and accountability and our free markets and free enterprise system.
West concluded his Weekly Wrap-up by writing:
I must confess, when I see anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool.
