President Obama is turning 50 tomorrow and is celebrating with two birthday party fund raisers tonight on his home turf in Chicago, according to ABC News. If the Obama fundraiser was for a worthy cause, such as a children’s charity that would be wonderful, but it is for his own campaign.
Something about Obama throwing himself a couple of birthday bashes with prices as much as $30,000 or more per plate, just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. This is especially true considering that the country is literally falling apart in many aspects today.
While no one would begrudge him a 50th birthday party, just a celebration of such grandeur along with all the money he will collect for his campaign while doing this seems – well, just not right.
Turning 50 is a milestone, so celebrate it with your close family and friends. Maybe he thinks these campaign birthday party celebrations will net him more money because it is his birthday, like extra presents?
Obama will leave the White House this afternoon for Chicago and return back to Washington after the festivities. The cost for a plate at the Obama birthday party ranges from a mere $50 to and extravagant $35,800.
The first event of the evening will be held at the historic Aragon Ballroom and approximately 1000 guests will help him ring in the big 5-0. Then a smaller party with only 80 to 100 people joining the President to wish him Happy Birthday and to help build hi campaign funds.
Connecticut is not a stop on the campaign trail that is of any urgency to the Democratic campaign, and is very rarely on the top of the list for a visit for a presidential campaign, but the campaign trial has just started to begin, so it could be we see Obama between now and the day of the big vote in November of 2012.
