The story has a distressingly familiar ring to it. A young, attractive blond female heads to the island of Aruba for some sun and sand, then suddenly vanishes without a trace.
That was how the story played out six years ago for Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. Now a second young woman has disappeared from the same resort town under equally mysterious circumstances.
Robyn Gardner, 35, of Frederick, Maryland, vanished on August 2 from the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino in Oranjestad. She had come to the island paradise with a man named Gary Giordano, whom authorities have since detained for questioning.
Giordano told police that Gardner never made it back to shore after the pair went snorkeling. However, he has changed his story several times.
Gardner’s boyfriend, Richard Forester, told local FOX television affiliate MyFOXDC that he does not believe Giordano’s account. Says Gardner:
I want to let people know this is going on. She’s been missing six days, and every day she’s gone raises fear that she won’t be coming back.
The missing woman is described as 5’5″ and 120 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes. She has tattoos on her left arm, her rib cage, and her right biceps.
