On the fourth day of their Canadian tour, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, a.k.a. Kate Middleton and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge visited residents of La Maison Dauphine,a “drop in center” for the homeless and young people and this is where the royal couple posed for an amazingly loving group photograph during a visit to on 3 July 2011 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The joyous looks on the shelter’s boarders as well as the smiles on the faces of the royal couple showed that a wonderful exchange had taken place. And they might’ve even practiced their French!
Kate’s lovely French blue lace dress is by Montreal-born, London-based Erdem Moralioglu, and his fashion label Erdem.
In fact, it was the second time during the trip that she wore a dress from his collection.
The newly married Royal Couple also met with some 200 angry protesters in Quebec City about two blocks from City Hall, Quebec who wore black and waved flags, they apparently don’t appreciate that Canadian taxpayer money is paying for their tour. Kate and William indicated that they were not unaffected by the demonstration.
Prince William, who is a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, also attended a ceremony to honor and inspect the Royal 22e Regiment, the most famous French-speaking unit in the Canadian military.
Then a much larger crowd of hundreds of supporters, began chanting “Will and Kate” and they were allowed closer to City Hall and greeted the royal motorcade with loud cheers when it arrived.
After a military band played the first six bars of “God Save the Queen,” Prince William made brief remarks entirely in French, saying that the people of Quebec had a vitality and remarkable pride and that they were delighted to be there.
The prince was apologetic about his accent, to which they laughed, and hoped that they would have the chance to get to know each other over the years to come.
Kate and William also attended a Freedom of the City Ceremony outside City Hall. The Duchess of Cambridge then talked to Konrad Sioui as she disembarked the HMCS Montreal – who was dressed in a fascinating hat!
