On Monday morning, Howard Stern became a trending topic across Twitter thanks to his interview with pop megastar Lady Gaga — however, what he may be stirring up just as much conversation for at the moment is what he had to say concerning at least one contestant on this past season of “American Idol.”
Specifically, Stern seemed to suggest that “weight” does play a major role in determining one’s success as a pop star:
“I watch ‘American Idol.’ Some of thse so-called singers are oveweright … people hate to admit it but this is show business.”
Yes, we could go through the list of contestants over the past several years and try to name a few people that Howard may be specifically talking about, but really that just seems to be fairly cruel.
However, it is worth nothing that Jennifer Hudson won an Academy Awards before losing a tremendous amount of weight, Ruben Studdard had a hit song shortley after the show’s second season, and Jordin Sparks only lost weight after having a series of hit songs on the radio.
Do you think Howard is right or wrong when it comes to “Idol” contestants facing trouble due to their weight?
