Even though we’re all excited for the upcoming BlackBerry 7 devices, the thought on everyone’s mind is, “When will we see QNX on a RIM smartphone?” The folks over at BGR got their hands on some juicy intel concerning just that.
The BlackBerry Colt is rumored to be the first QNX powered BlackBerry and is slated for a release in the first quarter of 2012. Research In Motion is still in the early stages of testing the device, so I wouldn’t set reminders in your phone just yet.
Of the many things that RIM is testing on the BlackBerry Colt is how it will be able to perform using only one processor. Even though it’s becoming par for the course for smartphones to have a dual-core processor, and quad-core is just around the corner, RIM is testing with only one. BGR believes it is because they would like to keep their amazing battery life as high as possible.
What are your thoughts on the Colt? Are you excited now that we finally have a potential release date in sight? Will that prevent you from purchasing one of the devices announced last week? Let me know in the comments below!
