Several British tabloids are reporting that former “X Factor” judge Cheryl Cole has reunited and moved back in with her ex-husband, British soccer player Ashley Cole. The couple had been married from 2006 to 2010. Their messy divorce made headlines in the gossip media, due to Ashley’s numerous reported infidelities.
After her divorce, Cheryl had been rumored to be dating Derek Hough (of “Dancing With the Stars” fame) since 2010, but their relationship (which was never publicly confirmed by either of them) reportedly fizzled out sometime in April 2011. Around that time, according to the Daily Mail, Ashley and Cheryl began dating each other again.
After Cheryl was fired from “The X Factor” U.S. in May 2011, Ashley and Cheryl’s rekindled relationship heated up even more, according to several tabloids. As previously reported, Ashley was among the invited guests at Cheryl’s 28th brithday party in London on July 1, where the former spouses were seen kissing and cuddling each other. Cheryl also reportedly gave Ashley a sexy lap dance at the party.
Not everyone is said to approve of Cheryl and Ashley being together. Cheryl’s mother, Joan Callaghan, and “The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell are among those who reportedly think that Ashley is not a good match for Cheryl.
The Daily Mirror reports:
A source said: “Ashley has got his wife back, and this time it’s for keeps. He has learned from his mistakes and knows he messed up but he’s promised Cheryl he will change. She’s back with the man she loves, despite what others say. He makes her happy and that’s the bottom line.
“The main reason they got back together was because they both realized they wanted to start a family and they could not live without one another. The first time around Cheryl’s career came first, but this time family is her priority. They both want children.
“His brother Matthew was about to have his second child and Ashley wants kids of his own. He realized no one else came close to Cheryl, no one else made him feel secure and loved. Cheryl felt the same. She knew it would never work with Derek. There’s even talk of getting married again.”
Girls Aloud star Cheryl has returned to the couple’s marital home in Surrey. Most of her belongings have been moved from her house to the £5 million Godalming pad.
Ashley is telling friends: “She’s moved in. It’s official” …
According to a friend of Cheryl’s, she said Simon Cowell did not hit it off with Ashley, and did not warm to the idea of a reconciliation. The source added: “Now Simon is out of the picture it’s paved the way for Cheryl to be with Ashley without awkwardness.”
Ashley is preparing for life after football by signing a nine-figure deal with Jay-Z to open leisure and film-related projects. The source added: “There are talks of moving abroad, perhaps Barcelona.”
Several sources close to Cheryl have been telling the British tabloids that she is planning to to a break from the entertainment business before launching a Girls Aloud reunion in 2012.
