Attack Attack! is a metalcore band from Westerville, Ohio and signed to Rise Records. Currently one of the labels most successful groups, selling over 170,000 units in the US alone, with only 2 releases behind them. Currently traveling with the Vans Warped Tour, for their 3rd year in a row.
Just over 1 year ago the band released their self-titled album, which peaked at #26 on the Billboard 200, selling over 15,000 copies in the opening week. The band has now released a reissue of this album including 4 new studio tracks, 2 remixes and 2 acoustic tracks. This is a must have for any fans of Attack Attack!. The 4 new tracks are; Criminal, All Alone, Pick A Side, and Last Breath. The 2 remixes are Sexual Chocolate Man (CLASS remix) and AC-130 (remix) and the 2 acoustic tracks are I Swear I’ll Change and Turbo Swag.
I am sure that many of you have already heard the original version of this album so I won’t go over all the tracks, instead I will tell you a little bit about the new tracks.
Let’s start with “Criminal” which can be heard here. A little bit more on the Poppy side of the band, featuring a very catchy chorus and featuring no screams, many might say that this is a far departure from what the band typically does. It is clear that this song is a potential radio single.
“Last Breath” is what fans have come to love from the band. Featuring heavy guitars and a couple of breakdowns that are somewhat of a trademark of the band. I would say this is probably the strongest of the new tracks.
And then there is “Pick A Side.” This track is another of the heavy song, which is done very well. The track features heavy bass lines and extremely punchy drums driving the song forward.
Finally the last new track is “All Alone.” A bit more laid back and radio friendly than most of the albums, featuring mainly only clean vocals. This track is probably my favorite of the new tracks on this release. I personally would like to hear more from in a sound similar to this track.
I won’t talk about the acoustic tracks or remixes too much. I will however say that they are extremely well done and are definitely worth listening to. The acoustic tracks are a very pleasant surprise and really show off a different side of the band that showcases their songwriting, composition skills, and lyrical prowess.
The album is out now and can be picked up here. Even if you own the original version of this album you won’t be disappointed in purchasing this reissued album. The 8 extra tracks make it like you are buying a whole new album and for the price of $9.99 for 18 total tracks it is really a great purchase.
